Adam Sandler Prepping Porn-Themed Comedy

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor/producer Adam Sandler is in preproduction on a new comedy, "Born to Be a Star," where a teen finds out that his parents were porn stars in the '70s and comes to Hollywood to follow in their footsteps and "fulfill his destiny."

Actress Christina Ricci has signed to play the teen's girlfriend.

Sandler is one of the writers of the project and is producing along with Jack Giarraputo, Allen Covert and Barry Bernardi. Tom Brady will direct. The film will be produced by Miles Deep Productions, not Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, and is expected to be released by one of Sony's subsidiary labels.

The premise of the story resembles that of mainstream actress Thora Birch, who appeared in Best Picture winner "American Beauty." Birch's mother, Carol Connors, was a crossover mainstream and adult actress who appeared in the classic 1972 adult film "Deep Throat" as the nurse to Harry Reems' doctor.

Principal photography for "Born to Be a Star" is planned to begin at the end of April.
