XBIZ Retail Seminar to Address Legal Hot Buttons
The final seminar during the inaugural XBIZ Retail Expo will offer spot-on answers to questions concerning obscenity issues, consumer’s rights, secondary producers 2257 record keeping requirements, product copyright and trademark infringement, in addition to other on-point retail-focused topics that will be covered in this in-depth, need-to-know exchange.
The seminar’s moderator is Jeffrey J. Douglas, a preeminent adult entertainment attorney, focusing on criminal defense representing all segments of the adult entertainment industry, whose clients include prominent wholesalers and retailers of sexually explicit products and services, as well as hundreds of Internet companies. Douglas also is a leading authority on 18 U.S.C. § 2257 and sits on the board of directors of the Free Speech Coalition.
Noted First Amendment and civil rights attorney H. Louis Sirkin is among the panelists. Sirkin’s most notable achievement was arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2001 in Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition where he successfully challenged the constitutionality of the Child Pornography Prevention Act. Sirkin is a founding member of the law firm Sirkin Kinsley and Nazzarine and has handled more than 110 appeals in criminal and civil cases.
Clyde Dewitt, who’s represented adult businesses since 1980 and spearheaded anti-censorship litigation dozens of jurisdictions around the country and has participated in the defense of numerous obscenity prosecutions facing hurdles involving trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition, business considerations and other important legal problems. The attorney is also Internet savvy and his monthly legal columns have informed and entertained readers since the ‘80s.
