K-Beech Files 6 Porn BitTorrent Suits This Week
LOS ANGELES — Six of the seven porn BitTorrent suits filed in federal court this week were initiated by K-Beech Video, which all told filed against 361 John Doe defendants.
K-Beech started suing those alleged to have poached and traded its content as recently as two months ago and now has amassed 14 claims against more than 1,000 defendants.
Its latest round of suits were filed in federal courts in North Carolina and Ohio on Wednesday and Thursday and name an assortment of titles, including "Gang Bang Virgins," which was named in one suit targeting 48.
XPays this week had the largest number of porn BitTorrent defendants as it filed its second copyright infringement complaint for those alleged to have shared the “Paris Hilton Sex Tape.”
The federal complaint filed Monday at U.S. District Court at Los Angeles names 995 John Doe defendants.
The suit not only includes infringement charges against the defendants but unfair business practices, as well, because the defendants are acting as "secondary producers" as it relates to 18 U.S.C. § 2257.
XPays is using the issue of 2257 in its suit because it contends that legitimate porn distributors spend enormous sums to comply with the law and the defendants aren't.
All of the suits seek court approval to identify John Doe defendants via subpoenas through their Internet service providers.
