HOLLYWOOD, Calif. —  A new biopic film about Playboy founder Hugh Hefner is in the works.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, producer Jerry Weintraub is developing the film for Warner Bros. and Academy Award nominee Peter Morgan, who penned “The Queen” and “Frost/Nixon” is negotiating to write the script.

Hefner tweeted on Tuesday that he had a good meeting with Morgan, “Discussing a film about my life.”

Morgan recently wrote producer/director Ron Howard’s new film, “Rush.”

This isn’t the first attempt at producing Hefner’s incredible story. Two documentaries have been made about his iconic life including Playboy Enterprises' 1992 film, “Hugh Hefner: Once Upon a Time,” and more recently the 2010 production “Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel.”

The new Hefner project was originally slated for development at Imagine Entertainment, but moved over to Warner Bros. earlier this year.

Speculation as to who will play Hefner is already buzzing in Hollywood, bandying about names including James Franco who had a cameo as the Playboy chief in the “Lovelace” biopic, and Robert Downey Jr. who Hefner reportedly said that he and Downey “talked about it and it is a very real possibility.”
