Dick Delaware to Fight in Gladiator Challenge

LOS ANGELES — Dick Delaware will return to performing in porn movies next week and then to professional mixed martial arts on June 30, when he faces Adrian Perez in a heavyweight fight at the Gladiator Challenge.

Delaware has not performed in an adult film since April 2012, when he played the title character in "This Ain't The Terminator XXX 3D." That movie, which was released earlier this year on DVD by Hustler Video, was easily the most high-profile of his career.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., native whose legal name is Aaron Brink has more than 400 adult movie credits since he started performing in 2002. This Sunday he'll get back to performing in a scene for Lethal Hardcore, and he has another booked for Hustler on Tuesday.

"This is one of my callings in life," Delaware said in an interview from Big Bear, where he is training. "I always wanted to be a porno star, this is my dream. Why waste a god-given gift and not be the porn star I can be."

Delaware in March completed a 90-day jail term in San Diego after he was picked up for violating his probation stemming from legal woes in 2011 that included a DUI conviction. He said his legal problems and bouts with substance abuse were finally behind him.

"I don’t have any more chances," he said. "I’ve had an awakening and cannot go back."

The 38-year-old has racked up almost 50 professional cage fights in an MMA career that began more than 14 years ago. He last fought on May 11, 2012, at Rage in the Cage 159 in Chandler, Ariz., losing to Joe Riggs. Delaware will bring a 25-23-1 record into his battle with fellow journeyman Perez at Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, Calif.

Mike Williams, the matchmaker for Gladiator Challenge, booked the fight quickly when he heard that Delaware and Perez had reached a verbal agreement to face each other after a series of Facebook messages.

"Aaron is great people, we’ve been dealing with him for quite a few years and we like the fact that he’s got everything back on track," Williams said. "It's important to us to be able to help a guy out who’s going back in the right direction."

While both men have previously competed at the Gladiator Challenge, Perez is far less experienced than Delaware with only 13 pro fights, according to Sherdog.com, and two wins. But Delaware claimed Perez has several more fights than what's been recognized by the site, which is known for keeping records of sanctioned MMA events. Perez also claimed his record is much closer to 9-13.

Williams added, "Perez is well-rounded but I think he'll want to stand and bang with Aaron and that’ll make for a great fight."

Delaware said that he was shocked that Perez actually contacted him after another fighter turned down his public challenge on Facebook.

"Perez said, 'With all due respect, I’ll take that fight,'" Delaware said, noting the two had been Facebook friends. "I was like, 'What?' I was so impressed, I got the chills. This guy has a lot of balls and I'm looking forward to fighting him. He and I were supposed to fight in 2005. I wish there were more people out there like Adrian Perez who just want to go out there and have a good fight."
