XBIZ EU to Host Controversial 'Porn Studies' Session

Aug 20, 2013 3:30 PM PST

LONDON — XBIZ is pleased to announce the addition of a special “Porn Studies” session to the XBIZ EU lineup, slated for Sept. 24 from 3-3:50 p.m.

“Porn Studies” editors Clarissa Smith and Georgina Voss will speak about the academic journal, which has garnered significant media attention since the announcement of its advent in May.

Published through Routledge, the journal is described as  “the first dedicated, international, peer-reviewed journal to critically explore those cultural products and services designated as pornographic and their cultural, economic, historical, institutional, legal and social contexts,” with particular attention to “the intersection of sexuality, gender, race, class, age and ability.”

"It’s time that porn is viewed from a more objective perspective," said Don Parret, XBIZ’s executive editorial director. "With the editors of the Porn Studies Journal, we intend to enlighten attendees by discussing the project's scope, challenges and latest findings. This session will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of our conference this year.”

XBIZ EU, slated for Sept. 22-25, returns to the Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Hotel in central London, where the international digital media conference originally debuted.

The conference brings together business leaders from around the globe for three days of cutting-edge market trend seminars and technology workshops featuring A-list guest speakers and networking special events.

For a limited time, members of XBIZ.net qualify for free or discounted event registration based on their area of business.
