Miami Film Festival Screening Amateur Porn Scene Documentary

MIAMI – Two former Miami Herald reporters are debuting their documentary about the city’s burgeoning amateur porn scene at the Miami International Film Festival.

In their latest film, “Hot Girls Wanted,” Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus investigate what they’re calling a huge hub for porn.

The new film’s genesis began after the team filmed their first documentary, “Sexy Baby” in 2012 that dealt with growing up in the digital age. According to the Miami New Times, their research shed light on amateur reality porn in Miami and spurred them onto college campuses where they found students watching girl-next-door type porn more than any other genre.

"We were just really interested in who those girls were," Gradus said.

The filmmakers said they were allowed access into a talent agent’s house and followed some of the performers.

"We can't tell you how all porn is made," Bauer said, "but we can tell you how this particular type of porn is made... with ‘Hot Girls Wanted,’ we're saying: okay, this is how it's made, these are the type of girls that generally get into it, and these are their stories."

The team also touched on the darker side of amateur porn including whether there should be regulations, calling the genre "largely unchecked and there are people taking advantage of that."

But the pair maintained they are neither for, nor against porn but are simply highlighting facts.

The film screens on March 9 at 7 p.m., EDT and on March 11, at 9:30 p.m. at Regal South Beach. Tickets are available at The film is also slated to be released on Netflix sometime this summer.
